The first (and so far, only) time my husband came home with a moose, I was a bit overwhelmed. There was suddenly an entire deep freeze full of meat – that I had no clue how to cook. He had a few ideas, but since I do most of the meals, I was left searching for recipes. I didn't find many, so I made sure to jot down my experiements that worked. Here's the best (so far) meatloaf recipe I've made with moose; you could easily do this with ground beef, too.
Beat egg. Add to meat, apple, onion, and sauce and mix. Add bread crumbs and spices and mix again. Form into pan. Brush sauce over top.
Bake at 375 degrees for about 40 minutes.
Goes great with some garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli – or fiddleheads, if you’ve got 'em!
